What
is Network Attached CD/DVD Server?
Due
to their compact size, low cost and their better value than online
storage; most businesses and organizations use CDs and DVDs to
store applications, information and data.
A
disadvantage of CDs and DVDs storage is: if not implemented and
deployed properly they can be difficult and expensive to manage.
Instead of fumbling with dozens or hundreds of CDs and DVDs, invest
in a Syritex™ Aralogix®
CD/DVD Server.
The
AraLogix® servers series can simplify the management of CDs
and DVDs, improve performance and reduce cost associated with
CDs and DVDs storage technology.
AraLogix®
servers series enable you to share the applications, information
and data stored on CDs and DVDs over the network without requiring
a high-end server with SCSI attached CD/DVD towers and an expensive
software to enable the solution. No more hassle, the CDs and DVDs
are online all the time for instant access and they can be easily
organized into multiple volumes and directories to make locating
them a breeze.
The
AraLogix® server makes an image copy of each CD or DVD you
want to share on your network and stores it on a hard disk drive.
Since hard disk drives have speeds far superior of CD/DVD optical
drives, accessing a CD or a DVD from the hard disk drive is much
faster then accessing it from the CD/DVD optical drive. This performance
advantage becomes more pronounced if multiple simultaneous users
need access the same CD or DVD.
The
AraLogix® server gives the ability to limit the number of
simultaneous users per CD or DVD to help control licensing restrictions.
If
you receive monthly subscriptions or updates on CDs or DVDs, the
AraLogix® server will replace the old outdated ones (previously
cached) the new ones as they become available without resetting
the access and security settings. Also if you want to keep an
archive of all the subscriptions or updates instead of removing
the old ones, the AraLogix® server enables to do it.
The
AraLogix® server helps lower the deployment cost of workstation
hardware by using it as a centralized resource for making back
up copies on CDs or DVDs.
RAID
hard disk drive protection is one of the features of the AraLogix®
server. The following RAID levels are available with the AraLogix®
server: RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 5.
The
CDs and DVDs can be loaded using the AraLogix® optical read/write
drives or from the comfort of your desk over the network by using
the powerful remote load utility.
Since
CD/DVD servers clients rarely require any additional hardware
to access the image copies of the CDs and DVDs, the initial investment
is contained to the CD/DVD server itself.
What
you find also that the AraLogix® servers are self-contained
and do not require any additional software for basic functionality.
The
AraLogix® servers integrate into either Windows or Unix/Linux
environments rather easily.
